Board of Trustees

OSHAfrica has an eight-man Governing Board otherwise known as Board of Trustees. These are highly qualified African Occupational Safety and Health professionals with equal representation from all sub regions of Africa in line with global gender equality framework and inclusivity which gives equal opportunity to every member irrespective of gender differences and physical disability or inability.

The Governing Board has the moral and legal obligation to safely and judiciously manage the affairs of OSHAfrica to the benefit of all professional members and subsequent member States who have trusted in the capabilities and competencies of the Board. Below are the profiles of members of the Governing Board.

Ehi Iden

Ehi Iden is an astute Occupational Health and Safety professional with over 20 years in practice spanning from hospitals, workplaces and Occupational Health centres. He holds an MBA and MSc in Workplace Health and Safety. He is currently a PhD by Research student.
Ehi has worked across many organisations and initiated several smart Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness solutions being used across a number of Corporate Organisations he consults for in Nigeria and beyond. He holds a number of International Certificates such as Society and Health (Harvard University), Patient Safety (John Hopkins University), Population Health (University of Manchester), Wellness and Health (Arizona State University), Behavioural Medicine (Karolinska Institutet) Sweden, Community Change in Public Health (Johns Hopkins School of Public Health), Healthcare Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Duke University), Global Social Entrepreneurship (Philanthropy University) and many other certifications from other institutions across the world. He is a prolific Occupational Health and Safety blogger and a good Occupational Health Project Manager. Ehi has presented series of papers in many international conferences and currently works as the Chief Executive Officer at Occupational Health and Safety Managers, Lagos Nigeria, an exclusive Occupational Health company he founded in 2009.
He is also the brain behind Actions for Preventive Health Concerns (APHC) and 7.2 INITIATIVE; and a West African Regional Chair in Patient Safety Movement Foundation, they are all not-for-profit social ventures.

 

Minha Rajput-Ray

Dr Minha Rajput-Ray

Dr Minha Rajput-Ray is an Occupational and Disability Physician as well as Medical Director for NNEdPro (Need for Nutrition Education/ Innovation Programme) at the Global Centre for Nutrition and Health, Cambridge. Dr Rajput-Ray’s has strong family roots in Kenya and a deep commitment to join forces with OSH colleagues globally to collate data, raise awareness and impact worker lives and livelihoods especially across Africa.
Dr Rajput-Ray received the FOM Mobbs Corporate Fellowship (2015), the SOM Golden Jubilee Travelling Fellowship (2015) and serves as Chair of the Scientific Committee on Unemployment, Job Insecurity and Health, of the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH). Having read Medicine at the University of Dundee School of Medicine, Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, and qualified in 2005 with an MBChB with commendation, she holds full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practice. Dr Rajput-Ray is also fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) as a Registered Osteopath following graduation with a 1st Class BSc (Hons) Ost Med from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of Westminster, London. Following general medicine training and an NIHR Rheumatology Academic Clinical Fellowship at The University of Manchester and The University of Cambridge respectively, she has acquired further post graduate qualifications in Disability and Occupational Medicine. This included a medical advisory role with The UK Department of Work and Pensions which allowed her to gain a unique experience of managing patients facing  unemployment/worklessness due to injury and disease and hopes to share these insights with members of the OSH Africa platform.

 

Moyo Dingani

DR. Moyo DinganiDr Dingani Moyo is  a specialist occupational physician, OSH consultant, an academic and researcher. He holds specialist qualifications in occupational Medicine: Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FFOM), Membership of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (MFOM) from the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland. He also holds a Master’s degree in Occupational health and safety(Hons); Masters degree in Health services management from the university of Newcastle in Australia, as well as the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degrees. He also hold various certifications in Occupational Health and project management from the Lud-Wig Maxmillians University in Germany, University of Brescia in Italy and NOSA in South Africa.  Dr Moyo has served in various capacities both regionally and internationally in OSH organizations. He has held the positions of ICOH National secretary for Zimbabwe as well as an ICOH Board member. He is an EXCO member of the South African Society of Occupational Medicine and President of the Zimbabwe Society of Occupational Medicine. He is also an Associate Editor of an international peer reviewed OH journal; The Archives of Environmental and Occupational Health journal. He is a lecturer at the Midlands State University and the National university of Science and Technology in Zimbabwe.

 

Hanan Mohamed Fathy Elnagdy

Hanan ElnagdyHanan M. F. M. M. Elnagdy, Occupational safety and Health specialist since 2006 , her background is chemistry, she got her university degree in specific chemistry from Alazhar University, Egypt- 2000, she got several postgraduate studies in both fields in Chemistry and Occupational safety and health, Diploma in analytical chemistry, Master in Green chemistry applications, from Helwan University , Egypt-2010 and Master in Occupational safety and health from Turin university, Italy-2013. Recently, she has been working on her PhD in green chemistry in Dibrugarh University, India.
Through her work in OSH field, she adapted a lot of research to improve the level of OSH in SMEs in Egypt, in addition, her work in the Ministry of manpower, Egypt, as inspectors and researcher. Finally, she involves with a group of researchers in Assam, India to improve the OSH and hygiene among Tea plantation workers in particular women workers.

 

 

Odhiambo Charles Bernard

Mr. Charles OdhiamboCharles B. Odhiambo is a versatile Occupational Safety and Health Professional with over 20 years of practical experience. He has an MSc. in Occupational Health and Safety from The University of Greenwich, U.K, and other international certifications in Principles of Environmental and Occupational Health (University of Illinois), Human Health and Global Environmental Change (Harvard University), Occupational Health for Developing Countries (University of Bergen, Norway), other Occupational Safety and Health Professional Certifications for OSHAcademy, USA and a certificate in Public Prosecution from Kenya Institute of Public Administration, Nairobi Kenya.
Charles has worked in different capacities in The Ministry of Labour, Kenya where he currently works as an Assistant Director in the Directorate for Occupational Health and Safety Services.
He has published papers in a number of International Occupational Safety and Health Journals and has been a very interesting resource person in a number of International Safety and Health Conferences.
He holds membership of International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) and currently the National Secretary for Kenyan Occupational Health and Safety Association.

 

Balfour Thuthula Mandisa

DR. Thuthula BalfourA qualified medical doctor and public health medicine specialist with a Diploma in Occupational Health and an MBA.
She has a wealth of management experience that spans 23 years, 17 of which have been at a strategic level. The experience was gained in varied settings across the public and private sectors. Her key strengths lie in strategic leadership and analysis, advocacy and lobbying, project and financial management and stakeholder management.
For the past decade, Dr Balfour has worked as the Head of Health for the Chamber of Mines of South Africa. Her role is leading the industry’s response to prevailing occupational health challenges such as pneumoconiosis, noise induced hearing loss and TB and HIV.
She has served on several boards including the Department of Labour’s Compensation Board and Department of Mineral Resource’s Mine Health and Safety Committee and the South African Business Coalition on Health and AIDS. Has published many articles on public health, environmental health and occupational health.

 

Ahmed Mohamed Elsheikh

Dr. Ahmed ElsheikhDr. Ahmed Elsheikh is a medical professional, director, surveyor, trainer, and international speaker with big experience in the healthcare management and quality sectors; sharing knowledge and providing hospitals, doctors, managers, and patients a high-quality care and safer environment for a better life. Dr. Ahmed has been trained in Japan and the US on Lean, Kaizen, and Strategic Quality Deployment, and has presented his successful model of Healthcare improvement at conferences in the US, Canada, Qatar, Dubai and Saudi. As an acknowledgment of his work and excellence, he has received a healthcare innovation award from the Institute for Health Improvement (IHI) for his kaizen implementation research in Qatar.
During his illustrious career, he has worked as Director of Quality and Patient Safety at the Security Forces Hospital Program in Saudi Arabia, where he led the hospital to CBAHI accreditation with the 3rd top score all over Saudi. Chair of Quality and Statics Center at Makkah Region Hajj Duty, a Trainer and Coordinator of Quality Management Applications at JCIA hospitals; Deputy Quality Manager at As-Salam International Hospital, and currently he is a chairing Board Member of the International Association of Risk Management in Medicine IARMM in Tokyo, Japan.
Furthermore, he is putting his skills and resources in the design and delivery of various learning training products in the quality field and healthcare industry. He has trained hundreds of CPHQ candidates in Egypt, Dubai, and Saudi Arabia, and has immensely improved their chances of obtaining this distinguished credential. His course syllabus is a unique blend of theory and practice and certified by the Healthcare Authority Abu Dhabi HAAD (19 CE Hours) and Dubai Healthcare Authority DHA (21 CE hours). He used to be a lecturer of Quality Management at the American University in Cairo AUC teaches Total Quality Management diploma.
Besides the delivery of exam preparation courses and bespoke in-house training. Dr. Ahmed is a distinguished speaker, conference chairman, and panelist at high-level conferences ranging from; an ASQ Lean and Six Sigma Conference in Arizona, US; through Canadian Society of Quality Conference in Montreal and Toronto Canada; to Harvard Medical School at IARMM Conference in Boston, US, to name a few. In addition to this, he is a frequent participant at MENA conferences in Dubai, Egypt, Qatar and Saudi, and his published work has been presented at many other international conferences in Sweden, Qatar, Brazil, Saudi, and UK.
Ahmed holds Bachelor of Medicine, from Mansoura University, an MBA from Edinburgh School of Business, a Hospital Management Fellowship from The Egyptian Fellowship, Total Quality Healthcare Management – TQM Diploma from the American University in Cairo (AUC), and is a certified: ASQ CMQ/OE, CPHQ, LGBSS, and TEAM STEPPS master trainer.
Finally, in the scope of his competencies and activities is co-authoring a book published in 2012, focusing on Building and Running Quality Management System in a hospital, and contributing to a tutor guide published in 2010 in focusing on Quality Assurance of Practical Course Practicum. In addition he published two peer reviewed articles in patient safety and quality improvement.

 

Akumah Emily Esenam

Akumah Emily

An avid advocate for decent work and social protection, Emily is a professional Health and Safety advisor. Her work enables enterprises in developing economies as well as project teams achieve a reasonably good state of protection for their workforces. She has BA, MSc and Pg.Dip qualifications from Ghana, the United Kingdom and Italy among many others.
Experienced in multi-stakeholder program management, acting as the bridge between project teams and government regulatory agencies to ensure compliance for sensitive areas. An experienced change maker that she is, she deals directly with senior managers of all contractors and clients to ensure that adequate guidance is provided to manage contracts and bidding processes towards safe operations on project sites.
Emily’s experience has stretched across construction, manufacturing, informal sectors as well as automotive and engineering sectors just to mention a few. She is also a researcher and a conference speaker, focusing mostly on strengthening grassroots and informal sector enterprises to provide the right working environment in order to boost productivity.
